Instant Memory Training Grid Game

This instant memory training grid game stimulates the brain in ways that help develop rapid memory recall. It's the same type of training used in Dr. Makoto Shichida's right brain learning child academies throughout Asia.

Game Prep

1. When playing this game, always start with the 4 grid, then work up to larger grids as your child masters each level.

2. On one of the 4 grids, using repositionable double stick tape (or similar), affix any 4 of the color pieces within the 4 grid boxes. This is the model card. The other empty 4 grid is what your child will be placing his/her pieces on.

Let's Play Instant Memory Training!

The object of the game is for your child to place his/her pieces on the empty grid using the same color, shape and position as the model card.

Important notes! Never force your child to play any game. Play this, and all accelerated learning games, only when your child is calm, happy and alert. Trying to play these games after your child has been running around outside or has just awaken from a nap is not a good time. Also, if your child shows any signs of boredom, stop playing and move to another activity. You can always try again later.

1. Hiding the model card, place the empty grid card in front of your child with some grid pieces, making sure the matching pieces you put on the model card are among them. Tell your child, “We’re going to play a matching game!” Say, “I’m going to show you something then hide it again so get ready, one, two, three!” then turn the model card over to reveal it.

2. Let your child observe the model card for about 5 seconds then turn it back over. Say, “Can you put your pieces in the little boxes like you saw here (pointing to the turned model card).” Feel free to encourage a little at first suggesting a piece, moving it to one of the grid squares and asking, “Is that the correct piece?” Then move that piece out. Encourage your child to move the pieces by themselves.

3. If you child does not succeed, show the model card again, hide it, then ask your child to try placing the pieces in their grid again. Do this as many times as needed until your child succeeds. Be sure to remain positive and cheerful with your child. Children learn at different paces and levels and it’s ok if they don’t get it right away.

4. Once your child has succeeded in matching all 4 pieces in the grid, you may choose to stop the training and pick it up the next day, or, if your child seems eager to try another, take the pieces off the model grid and affix a set of different pieces. Play again.

5. When your child has mastered the 4 grid consistently, move to the 6 grid, then 9
grid and so on until you reach the 40 grid!

There are young children are remembering every object on the 40 grid. Their instant memory abilities are amazing!

Print out more grids and get your whole family playing. All will be having a great time together and increasing your memory abilities too!
